Urology and andrology: a doctor for men at every stage of life

Men's health means ongoing care for hormones, sexual function, fertility, the prostate and the urinary tract. It starts in adolescence and goes well beyond treating disease.

Start with what brought you here

Each topic has its own page on what gets investigated and what the treatment options are.

The premise

Men do have a doctor of their own. Most just haven't found one yet.

Most men don't have a doctor who knows their history, notices when something changes and guides them through each stage of life. They seek help only once something has already gone wrong, get that one problem fixed and disappear again.

A urologist and andrologist can be that long-term doctor: not just to treat the problem that brought you here, but to keep track of your hormones, sexual function, fertility and the right tests for your age, before a specific complaint ever comes up.

What men's health means

Areas of practice

Four areas, one continuous approach to care

Hormones and testosterone

Hypogonadism and age-related testosterone deficiency, often called "andropause." Low testosterone causes real symptoms and can be diagnosed precisely, and testosterone replacement has clear indications, which do not include looks or athletic performance.

General urology

Kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostate cancer screening, vasectomy, phimosis, hydrocele and routine urological checkups. Comprehensive care for men, with ethical, evidence-based treatment.

Appointments

How it works

Private telemedicine appointments that combine the convenience of seeing a doctor online with the same quality of care as an in-person visit, for patients anywhere in Brazil.

  1. Send the office a message

Briefly tell us why you'd like an appointment, and you'll get a time slot along with instructions.

  2. Video consultation

Time set aside to hear your story, review any tests you already have and walk you through the possible explanations without rushing.

  3. A clear plan at the end

Test orders, written instructions and clear next steps. If your case needs an in-person evaluation, you'll know exactly why and leave with the right referral.

Research

Research and clinical practice

Part of my time goes to research: articles published in Brazilian and international journals on sexual medicine, fertility and urology. In practice, this means keeping close track of what the evidence shows for each treatment, including where it still falls short.

Frequently asked questions

Before you book

The questions that come up most often in a first conversation.

What does an andrologist do?

An andrologist is a doctor dedicated to men's health: sexual function, male hormones and fertility. In practice, it's a urologist with additional training in these areas, and the right specialist for erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, infertility and penile curvature.

What's the difference between a urologist and an andrologist?

Every andrologist is a urologist, but one who focuses specifically on sexual function, hormones and male fertility. A general urologist cares for the entire urinary tract, from the kidneys to the prostate. Dr. Nilson works in both: general urology, and andrology as his subspecialty.

Will an online consultation work for my situation?

For an initial evaluation, reviewing test results, testosterone replacement and follow-up visits, yes, with the same attention you would get in person. Cases that need a physical exam or a procedure require an in-person evaluation, and you'll be told so clearly from the very first conversation.

At what age should a man start seeing a urologist?

There is no minimum age. Care can begin in adolescence and continue through every stage of life: puberty, sexual life, planning a family and aging. What changes with age is screening: a routine prostate evaluation is recommended from age 50, or earlier if there are risk factors such as a family history or symptoms.
